New York, NY. This is just a quick reminder that nothing is set in stone these days. While perfectly healthy star netminder Igor Shesterkin remains on the bench, until recently no one would have believed that the 38-year-old Rangers backup goalie would play and win four games in a row, nor that the Blueshirts would turn things around after a disastrous start to the season that has now seen them win eight in a row.
And yet this is exactly what happened. After the New York Rangers' 3-1 win over the Arizona Coyotes thanks to two goals from up-and-coming forward Tim Stützle, Rangers head coach Jon Cooper has a tough decision to make: If he gives Quick his fifth straight start, both streaks could be snapped. If he sends Shesterkin in, one will be broken before the game even starts. Meanwhile, recovered J.T. Miller will be back on the ice for the Blueshirt's next meeting with the Calgary Flames. Chris Kreider is expected to be back in the following game.
