Jake for Jacob

2024-04-25

New York, NY. The New York Rangers have completed their first trade of the current season. In a deal with the Los Angeles Kings, veteran defensemen Jake McCabe and Jacob Trouba switched teams. For Trouba, it is a return to the club he started his career with.

Since Jake McCabe will become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season, while Trouba is under contract for another year and is considered to be a bit stronger on the defensive side, the Rangers have given up their second-round pick in the upcoming draft to the Kings as compensation. The 30-year-old US-Americanʼs salary is an even four million dollars per season.

Trouba is set to play his first game back in a Rangers uniform tomorrow night when the Blueshirts face the New Jersey Devils in a rematch at Madison Square Garden. Tonightʼs game was a 3-5 loss without Jake McCabe in the lineup. It has not been leaked whether the Rangersʼ management is working on further trades due to the teamʼs sub-par performance that continues to this day.
